End of an Era – England’s Graeme Swann Retirement

Every fan of England cricket was surprised when world class spinner of England team (Graeme Swann) declared his retirement. He decided for this after the test match against Australia. It wasn’t because of the hitting of Shane Watson. He accepted his fault and said “he kept same bowling in same areas for same result.” Finally on Sunday he declared his test career with 60 matches and 255 wickets. This time for England cricket is becoming worst where Jonathan Trott is out due to his stress-illness.

Coach Andy flower denied to giving his services after January.71903315 107804077 End of an Era Englands Graeme Swann Retirement And three senior players- James Anderson, Kevin Pietersen and Matt Prior having their age issues. For a team like England, who won three continue Ashes. England becomes number one test team for first time in history. Now, these problems of England can be the end of golden era of England. Everybody was unknown to the decision of Swann except Captain Cook and Coach Andy Flower. Swann shared this decision with his captain and his coach on late night of Saturday and told his teammates during the practice session at MCG on Sunday.

Some peoples will calculate this declaration of retirement by Swann with his bowling in Ashes. Hitting by Shane Watson 22 runs in just single over of Swann He just took 7 wickets in whole Ashes. As an off spinner he came at right time in England team in 2008 when the review system was made. The system was very helpful for the kind of bowlers like Swann for lbw decisions. He was the one of pivot player of England cricket team.

In Ashes 2009 he came as the some important role in greatest victories of England when he took last wicket and caught Mike Hussey in Lord’s and the Oval. Mean while he started to bowl his clean bowling like he bowled Australian captain Ricky Ponting. After that continuously bowling well taking 9 wickets in defeat of SA in Durban. And in second inning against Aus. he takes 5 wickets. And on England’s tour of India in 2013 he was the main headache for Indian batting line up in one day of test both side. That time he was leading wicket taker for England and became first spin bowler for England to take five wickets in Ashes, after Hedley Verity in 1934.

But this is the thing after a great bowling career of Swann’s, this era is going to end after this retirement decision. There are still 2 test matches to come. England is already 3 down here in Ashes. This going to be very critical for England. After win of Australia with 3-0 in Ashes England is also Morale down because his two top players are out of the series. The declaration from coach also, not to continue after January is also a big hurt to England cricket. So, finally the thing is to fill the holes of England cricket, but fact is these holes are increasing regularly. Now thing is that how fast England team makes a good comeback without Swann.
